LED-Screen at the Gasometer Sch\u00f6neberg \u2013 The Night Screen<\/h1>\n\n\"\"<\/a>\n\n

The LED net attached at to two top rings of the steel frame, visible far beyond the Sch\u00f6neberg district at night time. The orientation of the screen, operated by Stroer Megaposter<\/a>, mainly is directed towards the new regional and intercity railway station Berlin S\u00fcdkreuz of the Berlin Circle Line (Ringbahn) and the city motorway interchange.<\/p>\n\n

The listed Gasometer building is located in the S\u00fcdkreuz area of the development programme \u201cUrban Redevelopment Project West\u201d, financed by the Federal and State governments. The steel construction can be seen from far away and is the landmark and striking symbol of the Sch\u00f6neberg district. It is located in the former industrial estate of the Gasag among various railway tracks in the Rote Insel (Red Island) neighbourhood. The plan is to transform the Gasag-estate into a \u201cEuropean Energy Forum\u201d with shops and office buildings, hotels, restaurants, a private university and a park.<\/p>\n\n

Technical Possibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Details are still being planned and will be announced soon. The screen wil be a 33m x 20m LED net, landscape format. Rasterisation of the screen will be 15 x 15 and generally DVDs will be played. Contents will be entered through a web interface by the operating company\u2019s headquarter in Neuss. The night screen shall, if possible, be able to transmit contents simultaneously and in relation to the location.<\/p>\n\n

Current Planned Use<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Currently, screening of 10 second advertising spots repeated every 2 minutes is planned. A maximum of 10 spots will be played in total. The condition by the district administration is that 20% of these spots must be of cultural content. The temporary test operation of this facility on 23 May 2007 was started with an advertisement for the current exhibition at the National Art Gallery.<\/p>\n\n

Model and Motivation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

3 million Euros are required for refurbishing the steel framework of the Gasometer. A glass cylinder is to be placed into this industrial monument and it is planned to become the central building of the \u201cEuropean Energy Forum\u201d, with event and office space. Refurbishment is to be financed by advertising revenue of a fine 33m x 20m LED net. This will only be turned on after sunset and will not have any visual impact on the industrial monument during the day. It is to become Europe\u2019s biggest \u201cnight screen\u201d an \u201cadvertising star in the sky\u201d.<\/p>\n\n

LED-screen am Gasometer Sch\u00f6neberg \u2013 Der Nightscreen<\/h1>\n\n

Das an den oberen zwei Ringen des Stahlskeletts befestigte Leuchtdiodennetz wird nachts weit \u00fcber dem Stadtteil Sch\u00f6neberg sichtbar sein. Die Ausrichtung des Screens, der von Stroer Megaposter<\/a> betrieben wird, orientiert sich vor allem an dem neuen Regional- und Fernverkehrsbahnhof Berlin S\u00fcdkreuz der Ringbahn und dem Stadtautobahnkreuz.<\/p>\n\n

Der denkmalgesch\u00fctzte Gasometer liegt im Gebiet S\u00fcdkreuz des F\u00f6rderprogramms \u201cStadtumbau West\u201d von Bund und Land finanziert. Die markante Stahlkonstruktion im Stadtquartier Rote Insel ist Landmarke und Wahrzeichen Sch\u00f6nebergs und liegt im alten Industriegel\u00e4nde der Gasag zwischen verschiedenen Bahngleisen. Geplant ist das Gasag-Gel\u00e4nde in ein “Europ\u00e4isches Energie Forum” mit Gesch\u00e4fts- und B\u00fcroh\u00e4usern, Hotels, Gastronomien, einer Privatuniversit\u00e4t und einem Park umzuwandeln.<\/p>\n\n

Technische M\u00f6glichkeiten<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Details sind derzeit noch in Planung und werden demn\u00e4chst bekannt gegeben. Der Screen wird ein 33 m x 20 m gro\u00dfen LED Netzes im Querformat. Die Rasterung des Screens wird 15 x 15 cm betragen, \u00fcblich wird das Abspielen von DVDs sein. Inhalte werden \u00fcber ein Webinterface von der Firmenzentrale der Betreiber in Neuss aus eingepflegt. Der Night Screen soll m\u00f6glichst zeitgleich und ortsbezogen Inhalte \u00fcbertragen k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n\n

Derzeit geplante Nutzung<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Geplant ist eine Bespielung mit 10 Sekunden Werbespots und Wiederholungen alle 2 Minuten. Insgesamt werden maximal 10 Spots gesendet. Auflage der Bezirksverwaltung ist dass 20% davon kultureller Inhalt sein soll. Der tempor\u00e4re Probebetrieb der Anlage am 23. Mai 2007 wurde mit einer Werbung f\u00fcr die aktuelle Ausstellung der Nationalgalerie begonnen.<\/p>\n\n

F\u00fcr die Sanierung des Stahlskeletts des Gasometers werden 3 Mio Euro ben\u00f6tigt. In dieses Industriedenkmal soll ein Glaszylinder gesetzt werden und mit R\u00e4umen f\u00fcr Veranstaltungen und B\u00fcros das zentrale Bauwerk des \u201eEurop\u00e4ischen Energie Forums\u201c werden. Die Sanierung soll durch die Webeeinahmen eines filigranen 33 m x 20 m gro\u00dfen LED Netzes finanziert werden. Diese wird nur nach der D\u00e4mmerung eingesetzt und soll tags\u00fcber das Industriedenkmal visuell nicht beeintr\u00e4chtigt.
